Carla Swansburg serves as the vice president and general manager of Epiq. She leads the Canadian operation out of Toronto and regularly speaks and writes on topics relating to legal service delivery and legal technology. Carla has a keen interest in developments and changes in legal technology and innovation.
PREVIOUS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Until recently Carla served as the Chief Officer, Practice Innovation, Pricing & Knowledge Services for Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Prior to that, Carla spent many years practicing commercial litigation, following which she was Senior Counsel for the litigation team at one of Canada's largest banks. She is a past President of the Association of Corporate Counsel's Ontario chapter. Her experience includes developing and supporting alternative fee arrangements, leading legal project management and process improvement practices and overseeing the investigation and implementation of emerging legal technology.
Carla has a bachelors in theatre from Dalhousie University and an LLB/JD from Dalhousie Law School. Carla was called to the Ontario bar in 1995. She recently obtained an MBA from the Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto).
