Matthew Grant is Epiq’s senior director of document review services for Europe. He oversees the day-to-day operation of Epiq’s on-site document review services, including managing contracted qualified lawyers on specific projects. Grant and his team assist law firm and corporate clients in the creation and implementation of review protocols, training materials, and best practices, as well as ensuring quality control and validation procedures for defensibility. He also has deep experience in the deployment of analytics and technology assisted review tools.

Previously worked at Epiq as a director of consulting services and was responsible for leading a team of eDiscovery professionals that delivered bespoke solutions for complex projects with challenging requirements, including those with information governance needs, on premise and behind fire-wall eDiscovery requirements, and projects involving data analytics and emerging technologies.

PREVIOUS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Grant has more than 15 years of experience in the eDiscovery industry, providing consultancy for complex litigation and regulatory investigations with a focus on cross-border and multi-jurisdictional projects. He began his career in eDiscovery in 2001 with Herbert Smith Freehills (Freehills at the time) in Sydney, Australia, and his subsequent years working for law firms and eDiscovery vendors have brought a wealth of electronic discovery and project management experience now used to deliver Epiq’s solutions throughout Europe and the UK.

Before joining Epiq, Grant was at LitSupport, Australia, where he provided consultancy and strategic advice on electronic discovery best-practice to clients in multiple jurisdictions across Australia. Prior to that, he was at LexisNexis in the UK for 6 years, managing electronic discovery projects for complex multi-party matters at all stages of the EDRM (Electronic Discovery Reference Model). He has delivered projects in the UK, Australia, and across Europe and the Middle East.

EDUCATION

Grant has degrees in Law and Arts from the University of New South Wales and is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He is also a European Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
