Navigating International Class Actions and Collective Actions in the U.K.

While class actions have existed for 50 years in the United States, the rest of the world has been slow to adopt the practice. Canada, Australia and the Netherlands are a few examples of other countries that have successfully implemented policies to allow one individual to file a lawsuit on behalf of others similarly harmed. Recently, new legislation was passed in the United Kingdom which will provide the opportunity for this type of litigation in respect to competition claims.
