Epiq Leader Melissa Cabral Recognized For Mentorship Program

Advancing career accelerator programs for both in-house and law firm attorneys

NEW YORK – Aug. 15, 2025Epiq is proud to announce today that Melissa Cabral, the company’s senior corporate counsel, has been honored in the 2025 Women, Influence, and Power in Law (WILP) awards program as an In-House Awards Mentor and Mentee Collaboration Finalist.

Corporate Counsel’s editorial department will announce winners in all finalist categories Oct. 7 at the Women, Influence, and Power in Law Conference in Washington DC. The WILP awards honor in-house and law firm women leaders and allies who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in law.

Cabral leads the Epiq Legal Internship Summer Program, recently participated in an industry Diversity Lab Hackathon, and co-launched Trailblazing Trios—the Epiq mentorship program for the Legal and Compliance Department to strengthen team culture through deeper connection and support across rolls. Instead of the traditional mentor-mentee hierarchy, the program focuses on creating peer-based groups of three colleagues from diverse backgrounds, departments, or levels of experience.

Cabral is deeply engaged in career accelerator and mentorship programs for both in-house counsel and law firm attorneys. Frequently leading discussions, she addresses legal practice challenges with a pragmatic focus, advancing career growth, strengthening business development opportunities, and championing innovative and human-centered strategies that modernize legal operations and foster meaningful connections. She also brings a strategic perspective to succession planning, ensuring continuity and long-term success. In all these efforts, she works to proactively align the values of clients, law firms, and legal departments while building strong relationships and expanding professional networks.

Since joining Epiq in 2022, Cabral has made a tremendous contribution both within Epiq and beyond. Before Epiq, Melissa cultivated a dynamic legal career at leading law firms and global corporations, building deep expertise in technology law, international business, and complex cross-border transactions. She served as in-house counsel for The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. Discovery, practiced law with Reed Smith LLP (formerly Astigarraga Davis), and worked as an international attorney at Banco Santander in Spain. With bilingual proficiency, Melissa earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Relations from Tufts University in 2008 and her J.D. from Inter American University School of Law in 2011. During her academic career, she held several leadership positions, including editor-in-chief of the Law Review, founding president of the school’s chapter of Amnesty International, and judicial clerk for a federal judge.
