How has Epiq Counsel enabled you to apply your legal expertise?

Epiq Counsel keeps the work fresh. I work with a wide range of clients across industries on various matters, alongside smart, collaborative teams. That variety keeps things engaging and gives me the chance to keep growing.

What motivated you to choose a flexible legal career path with Epiq Counsel?

I was seeking real autonomy and work-life balance, not the kind that sounds good on paper but still means working long hours every day while on vacation. Epiq gave me the chance to work with great clients at a competitive rate while also having the flexibility to control my schedule and spend quality time with my wife and kids. That combination is hard to beat.

What is your favorite part about working with Epiq Counsel?

The support team, hands down. They’re amazing. Epiq is not the only flexible legal platform I’ve worked with, and it’s easily the best. The team genuinely supports its lawyers, and you feel it. You’re not just another name in a system; you’re valued.

How has the flexibility of Epiq Counsel allowed you to deepen or broaden your legal expertise?

It’s been huge for my growth. In a traditional law firm, once you’re known for one thing, that usually becomes your entire identity. In-house can be similar. At Epiq, you have a lot more control over where you want your career to go. If you have experience in multiple practice areas, Epiq helps you use it. You can work with clients across different areas and keep building, rather than getting boxed in.

What advice would you give to legal professionals considering a transition to a flexible legal career?

Give it a chance; you will love it. I have a personal test for whether a job is right, and I call it the “whistling test.” If I’m walking to my computer in the morning with a cup of coffee and whistling, that tells me everything I need to know. With Epiq, I enjoy the work, I love the clients, and I’m challenged in a way that feels energizing instead of draining.

In what ways do you see the legal industry evolving to accommodate flexible, on-demand legal talent?

I think more lawyers are waking up to the fact that there are better paths than the traditional model. Law firm burnout is real, and plenty of in-house roles offer benefits and flexibility that can be misleading in practice. On-demand legal work gives companies access to strong legal talent when they need it, and gives lawyers more control, variety, and a sustainable way to practice. That shift is only going to accelerate.
