NEW YORK – October 8, 2019 — Epiq, a global leader in the legal services industry, today announced that Epiq experts will be presenting at the Mass Torts Made Perfect Conference on topics like mass tort case preparations, benefits to having a class action administrator, and overall, sharing best practices. The conference is at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas on October 22-24, 2019.

Complex settlements expert Lea Morris will present a session entitled, “You Have a Case. Now What?” Morris will discuss the steps to prove a case, different strategies in managing a large docket of cases as well as the challenges of managing large mass tort inventories.

“One of the most important things to remember when getting into mass torts is that each case still has to be treated like an individual case, because it is,” says Morris. “Firms must take the time needed to prove each case, just like they would in a single event case, but they must do so on a much larger scale. This dynamic creates unique challenges that must be planned to ensure all cases are handled appropriately.”

Nationally recognized claims administration expert Lauren McGeever will also be presenting a session entitled “Developments in Class Notice and Settlement Administration: Digital Notice and New Means of Distributions”. McGeever will review key issues in preparing settlement agreements, the roles of the defendant and defense counsel in the selection of a notice and claims administrator as well as explaining the benefits an administrator to an organization dealing with settlements.

“While there are many similarities between class actions and mass torts, the roles administrators play in these cases vary widely,” said McGeever. “This panel will share the ways in which an administrator can help guide organizations through settlements and provide attendees with the tools they need to choose an administrator wisely.”
