Julie J. Cogan enables organizations to identify, understand, prioritize, and manage the risks and opportunities associated with their information assets. Her emphasis is on aligning information governance strategies with business operations and operationalizing clean, secure, and relevant information environments as sound foundations for organizations to responsibly adopt generative AI.
Half of Julie’s nearly three decades of experience in the field has been as a practitioner. Before joining Epiq, Julie served as Vice President of Information Governance at Nuix, where she led global product and market strategy. Her career also includes practitioner roles with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Superfund Enforcement Division, and law firms Arnall Golden Gregory, LLP, and Nexsen Pruet, LLC. She also served as a subject matter expert and consultant for IBM, Merrill Corporation, and Cadence Group.
Julie is a past president and former chair of the board of directors for ARMA International, serving on numerous committees, including as chair of ARMA’s Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles Task Force, and managing co-author of its Information Governance Body of Knowledge. In recognition of her contributions to the association and profession, ARMA inducted her into its Company of Fellows (FAI) in 2019. She holds the Certified Records Manager (CRM) credential awarded by the Institute of Certified Records Managers and the Certified Information Governance Professional (IGP) certification awarded by ARMA International. She received her BS degree from Georgia State University.
