Epiq’s Malia Turner Named a Top Diversity and Inclusion Officer

Senior Global DEI Program Manager honored by Crain’s New York Business

NEW YORK – May 29, 2023 – Epiq, a global technology-enabled services leader to the legal industry and corporations, is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The company is proud to announce today that Malia Turner, Senior Global DEI Program Manager, has been named a Top Diversity and Inclusion Officer finalist by Crain’s New York Business. The award recognizes individuals whose primary role and exceptional leadership champion diversity and inclusion within their organizations.

As head of the company’s global DEI efforts, Turner oversees a wide range of programs and initiatives across geographies, divisions, and business lines, impacting more than 8,000 people worldwide. Crain's New York Business particularly noted her ability to leverage data and employee feedback to shape these efforts, combined with her experience as a DEI consultant and a proven track record in driving positive change. Turner focuses on generating quantitative outcomes and progress that allow each employee to find their unique voice and bring their different backgrounds and strengths to solving complex client challenges.

"At Epiq, I am driven every day by the desire to empower my colleagues, foster their professional growth, and create an inclusive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging," Turner said. "I firmly believe that the strength of Epiq lies in the diversity of our workforce – their backgrounds, voices, talents, and experiences. It is a profound honor to be part of an organization committed to this ongoing journey."

Among her many accomplishments since assuming her current role in 2021, Turner has developed a yearlong interactive inclusive leadership training program for Epiq’s senior leaders, overseen a series of leadership listening sessions for employees, and was instrumental in reducing turnover and increasing representation among women and people of color. She works closely with Epiq’s employee-led initiatives, including a global DEI committee, international chapters, and award-winning employee resource groups. Turner also hosts the podcast, “DEI is Epiq” where employees, clients, and professionals learn how to make workplaces more diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

“At Epiq, we know that bringing a depth and range of experiences and perspectives to our work is the key to our success, so DEI is woven into everything that we do,” said Terry Gaylord, Epiq’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “We also understand that as a large, global organization, Epiq can really move the needle on DEI in the legal space. Malia is a critical part of this, leading by example and serving as an inspiration about what is possible. She is a worthy recipient of this recognition, and we are proud to have her ignite change and serve as a champion of our culture.”
