Melanie Carmosino’s three decades of accomplishment in legal operations and IP management span global corporations, law firms, and consulting roles. She has not only shaped industry best practices through thought leadership, including as co-chair of CLOC’s IP Proficiencies Committee and the LegalOps.com Vendor Management Committee, but also driven transformative results at the intersection of law, technology, and business. Melanie is recognized for receiving the 2020 Financial Times Intelligent Business Award for her work spearheading the innovation and modernization of Microsoft’s IP and legal operations.

Most recently, as Head of Global Legal Operations at TikTok, Melanie built the company’s legal operations function from the ground up, introducing governance frameworks and technology strategies that established the legal department as a strategic partner to the business. She led the global transformation of IP systems and processes, outside counsel and vendor management, as well as the implementation of enterprise platforms for billing, matter management, and contracts.

Prior to TikTok, Melanie served as Director of Operations within Microsoft’s Intellectual Property Group, leading its multi-year digital transformation effort that achieved a forty percent productivity increase and a fifteen percent cost reduction. This success is a testament to Melanie’s expertise in integrating technology, process optimization, and data-driven insights to manage vast, complex IP portfolios on a global scale.
